Rifled air gun designed to use skirted (cup-shaped) lead pellets, usually of .177 (4.5 mm) or .22 (5.5 mm) calibre. The designation is often used erroneously to refer to a BB gun. See also "air gun"; "BB gun". NOTE. A few pellet guns can also use steel BB shots but usually with much less accuracy.
